Quick Clean-Ups To Keep The House Spic and Span

With young children to watch over, chores to finish, and errands to run, keeping the house squeaky clean at all times can be quite a challenge. I am glad though that I have a helper who does most of the housechores. I, on the other hand, am in charge of taking care of the two little ones and cooking our meals.

Our helper though also takes care of the children for a couple of hours in the afternoon when the students I tutor come to our house. So as not to burden her with all the house chores, we employ a few quick clean-ups to keep the house as clean as possible:

  • Always put things back in their proper places. It may seem easier to just set items in the most convenient place intending to return them to their proper storage when you have nothing else to do anymore. However, all stay-at-home moms can attest to this, you will never ever run out of things to do in the house. Pretty soon, you’d find a huge pile of odds and ends that would take hours packing away.
  • Keep a scrub within easy reach for a quick wipe of the countertop and double bowl sinks after washing the dishes. No need for some heavy scrubbing every day. Just make sure you give the kitchen counter and sink a quick wipe to prevent dirt build up.
  • Give the bathroom sink, the toilet, and the bathroom floor a quick scrub every night to prevent scum buildup. This also lessens the chances of mildew formation. Again, no need for a thorough scrubbing each day. It only usually takes 5-10 minutes to give our bathroom a quick scrub.

Aside from these, we also have a weekly schedule for laundry and general cleaning. Each day, one area of the house is assigned to be cleaned thoroughly. Specific days of the week are also assigned for doing the laundry. Our daily and weekly schedules have helped keep the house running like clockwork. It’s also a good idea to get a Pooler soft washing done at least once a year to keep the house looking as new as the day you bought it.

I have doubts though whether I could keep the house spic and span when our helper goes back to her province a couple of weeks from now. But these few handy tips would ensure that our house remains habitable and relatively clutter-free.
