Pure Love. This is precisely the kind of love that these moms have showered on their families and to those who are in need. Though coming from different industries, these five outstanding women have three things in common: they are all achievers, they are all moms, and they all have a heart for those in need.
Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water gave recognition to these five absolutely amazing women for their achievements in their respective fields and for their devotion in supporting worthwhile causes and charities by presenting them the “Absolute Mom Awards” at the Museum Café in Greenbelt 4 last May 9. As a way of saying thank you, cash was donated to each Mom Awardee’s charity of choice, in her name, by Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water.
Instead of wallowing in grief and falling into depression when she lost her son Migi, The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Awardee, Cathy Babao transformed this heart-wrenching experience into a lifetime mission and founded Migi’s Corner. This foundation dedicated to her son has established play areas in over 10 public hospitals in the country. Cathy can empathize with families of children battling with cancer and has thus chosen Project Brave Kids to receive the donation from Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water.
Risa de los Angeles, a leader and mentor of the Youth for a United World of the Focolare, has shown exemplary service in helping the less privileged. Through the Focolare, her chosen charity which espouses universal brotherhood, Risa endeavors to bring about spiritual and social renewal and to encourage everyone to live in love and in unity.
Over 12 years ago, Patricia Bermudez-Hizon founded the Everyday Is Your Birthday Foundation to encourage those who have more to share their blessings with and uplift the spirits of those who have less. This and many more causes she supports exemplifies a mom’s heart that is overflowing with unconditional love. This unselfish love was evident when they took into their own home the children of the House of Refuge Orphanage when Typhoon Ondoy inundated Provident Village. She continues to support this orphanage and has chosen it to be the recipient of the donation from Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water.
Though popularly known as the wife of the Master Rapper Francis Magalona, Pia Magalona is so much more than a wife and a mother. Raising eight children is a herculean task as it is, but Pia has perfectly managed her time and resources and still has plenty left for various advocacies. As Chairperson of the Francis Magalona Foundation, she continues to instill and cultivate Filipino pride by helping transform the lives of public high school students.
Last but definitely not the least to be awarded as an Absolute Mom was fashion visionary, triathlete (who looks absolutely adorable running in tutus!), and columnist Tessa Prieto-Valdes. Known for her flamboyant fashion style, Tessa is also renowned for her philanthropic acts. Among the many charities and causes she supports, she chose the Assumption High School Batch 81 Foundation whose thrust is in the welfare of impoverished children to receive the donation from Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water.
The awards were presented to the five extraordinary women by Absolute Mom, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, who, like the five awardees, also has a heart for those in need. A few years ago, she started the Touch A Heart Foundation which has been helping uplift the lives of children in an Aeta community in Orion, Bataan.
With scores of awards recognizing her exemplary performances as an actress, Judy Ann shows that she gives nothing but her best in any endeavor. As a wife and mother, she does the same thing and does her absolute best to ensure that her family is happy and healthy. An Open Letter to My Mother
Dear Mame,
I have never told you how I felt all these years; I am not courageous enough to talk to you personally so I had to write it down.
Let me start this letter by thanking you for choosing to born me out in this challenging but beautiful world. I know you had a choice not to, but you still opt to give me life. You suffered sleepless nights when I was sick, fuzzy and even when I had to be feed.
Eversince we had a difficult life because we are a big family yet it didn’t matter because your love suffice everything. You love to sing which makes you feel young again. And how I love hearing your voice. Yes, we had a major misunderstanding when I had my first boyfriend who later on became my husband. Until now, I know you still haven’t moved on with the fact that I already have my own family. But you still took care of me when I had to give birth. I could even hear you whisper prayers in my ears as I am laboring. I know you love me.
Yes, I admit I failed you and Tatay but you understood me and continue to understand me still. I am very very sorry, Mame for disappointing you. I know you have high hopes in me. I wish I could ease how you felt. I remember you saying to me that I will understand all the advice that you’ve given me once I become a mother too. It’s true, Mame. I know now. I perfectly understand your decisions, actions and pangaral now.
You shaped me for what I am now and for that I will never ever get tired of saying how much I thank you for all the love and sacrifices you had to undergo just to give us everything that we need. I’m praying and wishing to be a better if not the best daughter to you and a mom to Lance.

i may not have the best mom but she is definitely amazing having able to bear the sacrifices of not having her children around her. It’s a heartbreaking experience of taking your child from you 🙂
My mom is absolutely amazing because she is a great model mom raising four children who instilled us with discipline, respect, right conduct and most importantly love and being close to God. My siblings and I completed our education with the help of the devotion of our parents. Although my mom has been working good in a bank before, she gave up her career for us to fully take care of us to become better citizens. I think that is the most amazing job of a mother.
